SISTERHOOD
“In a world that has become very complex and sometimes uncaring, Sisterhood is a way of belonging, of being part of a group, in involving oneself in the greater concerns of our lives. It affords the individual woman the ability to feel the pride that comes with knowing that something is being done to help people in need.” – Anonymous
Did you know that Sisterhood sponsors a weekly knitting group at the temple?
We meet every Monday afternoon from 1:00-2:30. Our very own Alma Carroll
provides knitting instruction for beginners, or for those who need
encouragement in starting a new project. Come join us, once, or every week -
we provide friendship and interesting conversation, along with the knitting.
For 2012, the group has decided to knit basic hats and scarves( neutral colors)
for the homeless, to be given out at future temple Midnight Runs. If you would
like to knit for a good cause, join us, or contact Alma Caroll (845) 735-7710
for more information. We also welcome scarves and hats from knitters who
cannot join our group. Thanks for your support!
After our holiday break, in December, Sisterhood resumed its busy schedule with
an evening of Mah Jong play to celebrate the Chinese New Year. The ladies who
attended enjoyed a Chinese dinner (what else?) and took pleasure in being with
each other. Thank you to Diane Raider’s daughter, Jaki, who so ably taught a
group of new players the game.
On Thursday, February 19th we will have our next ‘Ladies Who Dine’. We’re
planning a Japanese repast at U-Me Sushi in Nanuet. As always, details will be
in the Batee Mail.
Purim basket assembly will be the evening of Tuesday, February 28th. A
light pizza dinner will be provided. This is a fun and easy way to help with
an important religious school and Temple fundraiser. We can still use delivery
people so let me know (sisterhood@bethamtemple.org) if you can help.
Stay warm and safe.
In sisterhood,
Marlene
